There are few brands that have been able to revolutionize their own industries like Jetboil. Formed in 2001, founders Dwight Aspinwall and Perry Dowst came up with an innovative new design for a fast, compact and efficient camping stove that simply blew the competition away.
The camping stove industry had been on a slow simmer for decades until Jetboil’s FluxRing technology dramatically reduced boiling times, improved fuel efficiency and showed anglers just how quickly they could get their bankside brews on!
The Jetboil Zip Carbon is their entry-level cooking system and the perfect companion for any solo angler looking for a no-frills way of cooking or boiling water in a jiffy. Weighing in at only 12 ounces, this super-compact stove can boil 800ml of water in just over 2 minutes, whilst only using half the fuel of traditional stove systems. The Zip Carbon uses the same FluxRing technology found in Jetboil’s higher-end products, whilst also packing in useful features such as a built-in measuring cup and bowl. If you’re an angler keen on travelling light, then the Zip Carbon is the perfect option.
Stepping up in size, you’ll find the Jetboil Flash Carbon. The Carbon is 200ml larger than the Zip at 1 litre in capacity, however it can boil water in an even faster 100-seconds – making it the fastest Jetboil ever. A simple push button igniter makes cooking a simple process, whilst a thermochromatic colour-change indicator is a neat addition that lets you know when your food or drink is good to go. Whilst it comes in at a slightly weightier 13.1 ounces, the Flash Carbon offers anglers the capacity and efficiency to whip up a quick pot of soup or coffee that can be easily shared with a friend.
If you’re looking for a cooking stove that’s more geared towards providing hot food, as opposed to a hot drink, then the Jetboil MiniMo might be the right choice for you. The MiniMo cooking system combines the best features of Jetboil’s smaller stoves with a convenient form factor geared toward personal cooking and dining. The redesigned FluxRing cooking cup offers a convenient low spoon angle, making it the ideal tool for heating up dehydrated meals or simmering soups. Whilst it weighs in at the heaviest of the Jetboil products that we stock, at 14.6 ounces, it’s undoubtedly a useful piece of kit for long trips away.
